Ragni Prasad hails from Nadi, Fiji and is currently residing in Sydney. She is an advocate for the maintenance of heritage languages, particularly in transnational migrant contexts and to promote and achieve this, she’s pursuing her PHD in Sociolinguistics from the University of Wollongong. The topic of her dissertation is ‘Language maintenance and bilingualism in the Indian migrant community in Australia’. Her focus group are first, and second-generation Indian migrants from India and the focus language is Hindi (the researcher’s heritage language). This webinar will present the methodology employed and the preliminary results of her investigation.
